Now we are moving into the holiday season, it is important that you do not forget to take your medicines away with you. You may need to request more sooner than you would usually, so it always a good idea to add a note explaining why you need your medication earlier than usual. The computer system is very good at letting us know if there appears to be an over usage.
We do occasionally get people at the desk desperate for their medication. It is useful to get into a routine about re-ordering. Don’t wait until you have almost run out before re-ordering. Please remember that the medical centre staff needs 48 hours to deal with prescription requests. If you ask for something that is not on your repeat slip, then this may take even longer as a doctor will then have to read through you notes and may not even then prescribe if it is felt to be inappropriate. You can collect your prescription either from the desk or arrange for it to go directly to a chemist of your choice. If you are requesting that a prescription go to a chemist you also need to allow 48 hours for the chemist to dispense your medication. If you drop your prescription into a chemist, then it arrives at the medical centre the next working day.
It would seem sensible to request your medication at least 1 week before you are due to run out.
You can also order your medication on-line. P2U is a pharmacy who can be contacted via the telephone, on-line or by post. They manage your requests and deliver to an address of your choice.
